What is LEGO Serious Play?

Lean Startup Logo

LEGO Serious Play is a program, communication, and problem-solving process wherein the participants are guided through a series of questions that aim to probe the innermost selves of the subjects. Each participant crafts his own creations using 3D Lego models in response to the facilitator’s queries by means of specially designated LEGO elements.

The LEGO Serious Play program is a method which develops group problem solving. By employing visual, aural, and kinesthetic skills, the program compels participants to listen and learn, and it offers all participants with a voice. The program serves as a united language regardless of culture or position. It is also a method that requires a trained facilitator – one such as Sean Si, who is recognized as the first trained LEGO Serious Play facilitator in the Philippines.

Why LEGO Serious Play?

By utilizing LEGO Serious Play materials and methodology, you will discover the relationships and connections between people and their world, observe the dynamics both external and internal, explore various hypothetical scenarios and gain awareness of the possibilities.

Throughout the facilitating meeting, you will be building landscape models with LEGO bricks giving them meaning through story-making and playing out various possible scenarios – a process which enhances understanding, hones insight, and socially “bonds” together the group as it “plays” while keeping organized.

The LEGO Serious Play program will guide participants into a free and candid exchange of opinion. The physical and palpable construction allows you to have conversations which flow without the fear of treading on personal feelings. The participants will experience that the real issues are addressed, and in due course the participants will be able to see things through the eyes of their colleagues – and have them view the picture through each other’s.

The LEGO Serious Play program is an experiential, radical, and innovative process created to enhance business performance. It is based on the belief that everyone can contribute to the discussion, the choices, and the conclusion.

The use of LEGO bricks simply allows the participants to take a precise and quick shortcut to the core. The bricks function as a catalyst – and when used for building metaphors, they cause processes that they were previously unaware of.

Participants derive from this program the skills to communicate more effectively, to engage their imaginations more readily, and to approach their work with increased confidence, commitment, and insight.

Unlocking Creativity with LEGO Serious Play
