The End of the Beginning

April 2010. That’s when I naively bought the domain name SEO-Hacker.com. That’s where it all really started.

And now it’s the end.

Somewhat.

They say that it takes at least 5 years of experience for a company to be considered ‘legit’. Hey, even closing the contract with one of the biggest malls in the Philippines needed an SEO company with at least 5 years of experience.

So yeah, we’re turning 5. Yep. This year.

Happy 5th birthday SEO Hacker.

Just as your 5th year has come, so has a wave of changes. Good changes. However, it is to my utter dismay to be the one to carry the burden of the lizard brain that is tugging away against these changes – leaving casualties in its wake.

Yep. The lizard brain has done it again – and quite successfully so.

As hard as it is, I can’t really say that I’ve been taken by surprise. Major changes are difficult for 100% of companies. As much as I’d like to be the exception, that is an absolute statistic.

At this point, we are seeing things that we need to build on some more – our process documents, our hiring process, our onboarding process, our regularization process, and so on. Things that we have taken quite for granted mostly in light of the day-to-day operations, sales, marketing and innovation.

To see things positively, it’s the dawn of a brand new era in SEO Hacker.

And as the saying goes, “it’s always darkest before the dawn“. Perhaps for us right now, this may be the case.

I have learned a whole lot being the founder and first CEO of SEO Hacker. I now know why it’s so hard to start up and why the next startup/s are going to be so much easier.

Whatever happens, only God knows what’s in store. Everything in His time, reason and purpose.

In all this, I will trust in the Lord.
